The Bingham name is revered in Arrow Rock, but it is artist George Caleb Bingham whose name and fame resounds loudest. But in Arrow Rock’s earliest years, it was George’s uncle, John Bingham, who was revered as a founding father of the town.

John Bingham’s ownership of an 80-acres Saline County farmstead stretches back to 1828, a year before the adjoining town of Arrow Rock was founded. In fact, Bingham eventually gave the town a portion of this land which bears the name “Bingham’s Addition” to this day.
